A Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) Database Administrator installs and maintains Microsoft SQL Server, multidimensional databases and user accounts as well as ensures database availability, recovery, and reporting. They create and execute server automation scripts and monitor and resolve SQL server activity.
Administrators also must monitor security issues and respond to threats. They must have strong knowledge of data archiving, consolidation, distribution and recovery techniques. Administrators must understand the importance of capacity analysis and be able to focus on its design. It is their responsibility to design security measures for database systems using Microsoft SQL Server.
Database Administrators must conduct performance analyses and are responsible for disaster recovery as well. They must put into place security policies for tracking data access.
